Inquiry Learning
Through our Integrated Studies program, students have opportunities to explore meaningful and connected learning experiences that foster curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
At Eltham East Primary School, we use an integrated approach to teaching the learning areas of Science, Humanities, Health, and Technologies, while embedding the four capabilities: Critical and Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural, and Personal and Social. This approach ensures students develop the knowledge and skills outlined in the Victorian Curriculum Fâ10, establishing a strong foundation for life-long learning, social development, and active citizenship.
Units of work are carefully planned and delivered in two-year cycles for Years 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6, ensuring consistent curriculum coverage across the school.
Alongside the four major units studied each year, students also participate in mini-units that respond to class needs and interests, covering topics such as seasonal changes, major sporting events like the Olympics, Bike Education, Road Safety, Fire Safety and Chess.
